VERB TO BE 2026

VERB TO BE


El verbo TO BE es el verbo más usado en inglés. Tiene dos significados en español: SER o ESTAR. El contexto de la oración te dirá cuál de los dos se está usando.

Ejemplos:

  • I am a teacher. (Yo soy profesor) $\rightarrow$ Significa SER.

  • I am in the classroom. (Yo estoy en el salón) $\rightarrow$ Significa ESTAR.


LAS 3 FORMAS DEL VERBO "TO BE" (en presente)

El verbo TO BE cambia según la persona (el sujeto) con la que se conjugue. Estas tres formas son: AM, IS y ARE.

¿CÓMO SE USA? (Estructuras y Ejemplos de cada caso)

Para dominar el verbo TO BE, debes aprender a usarlo en sus tres formas: Afirmativa, Negativa e Interrogativa.


1. Forma Afirmativa (+)

Se usa para declarar algo que es o está sucediendo.

Estructura: Sujeto + Verbo TO BE (am/is/are) + Complemento

  • I am happy today. (Yo estoy feliz hoy).

  • He is an engineer. (Él es ingeniero).

  • We are at home. (Nosotros estamos en casa).


2. Forma Negativa (-)

Para negar, simplemente agregamos la palabra NOT después del verbo TO BE.

Estructura: Sujeto + Verbo TO BE + NOT + Complemento

  • I am not tired. (Yo no estoy cansado).

  • She is not (isn't) my sister. (Ella no es mi hermana).

  • They are not (aren't) in Spain. (Ellos no están en España).

Nota para el alumno: Puedes usar las contracciones negativas: is not = isn't y are not = aren't. (Am not no se puede contraer como "amnt", solo como I'm not).


3. Forma Interrogativa (?) y Respuestas Cortas

Para hacer preguntas, el verbo TO BE pasa al inicio de la oración (antes del sujeto).

Estructura: Verbo TO BE (Am/Is/Are) + Sujeto + Complemento + ?

  • ¿Eres estudiante? $\rightarrow$ Are you a student?

    • Sí: Yes, I am.

    • No: No, I'm not.

  • ¿Está ella en la escuela? $\rightarrow$ Is she at school?

    • Sí: Yes, she is.

    • No: No, she isn't.

  • ¿Son ellos amigables? $\rightarrow$ Are they friendly?

    • Sí: Yes, they are.

    • No: No, they aren't.

VOCABULARIES 

SIGN= to write your name (symbol) on a document to show that you agree with its content.

SIGNER= a person who signs a document, contract or any other written agreement to indicate their agreement to its terms and conditions.

SIGNATURE= a person name or a distinctive mark written by hand, often at the end of a document.

REGISTERED TAXPAYER= it is used to describe someone who is officially registered with the tax authorities to pay taxes.

RECEIPT= is a document that acknowledges the receipt of goods, services or money. it typically include details such as: 

* Date of transaction.
* Name of the buyer and seller
* Description of the goods or services provided.
* Amount paid.
* Method of payment. (cash, credit card, etc)
* Seller's signature.

SEALED= used when referring something that is closed or secured, like an envelope or a document.

STAMPED= used when referring something that has been marked with a stamp like a passport or a letter.
